STEM Packed provides easy STEM activities for elementary teachers who want to run a systematic and low cost STEM program in their classroom. Whether you’re a new or veteran teacher, you’ll find our support and resources at STEM Packed to be all inclusive. Our fun and friendly STEM activities will help you relax and enjoy teaching. We’ll help you prepare students with 21st century skills needed for jobs that have yet to be invented. Think of us as the colleague next door who you can always turn to for support.
My Journey into STEM Education
I have been in public education for over 20 years and have served in many different roles. I have been a classroom teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal and even did a short blip as an interim principal. Throughout all those roles, my passion has been in helping others understand their strengths so they can unlock their full potential. That goes for both students and teachers.
My passion for STEM Education ignited not too long ago. My principal at the time was starting a new Specials class and wanted it to have a STEM focus. For those of you that are not familiar with Specials, that’s ok. When I moved from California to Texas, I didn’t know either. Specials is how many districts solve the issue of common planning time and and covering standards outside of the core 4 (language arts, math, science and social studies). Anyways, I jumped at the chance to teach this new Specials class because it combined my favorite subjects, math and science, with not only technology and engineering, but was the perfect way to integrate those 21st century skills. You know which ones I’m talking about, those “soft skills” that fortune 500 companies are looking for in candidates more than ever. I’m talking about communication, teamwork and collaboration, and critical thinking. Skills which students seemed to have lost during and after the pandemic hit in 2020.
